MERGING BOYS & GIRL DIVISIONS
The Swedish BJJ Federation has the following rules that we as organisers are to follow.
1. A maximum of 3 years difference may occur in children's classes.
2. A maximum of 2 weight classes may differ in the children's categories.
3. The organizer has the option to apply a maximum of two steps between belts at
needs.
4. After the age of 12, girls and boys (ladies and men) may no longer be grouped together.
In mergers, point 1 is taken into account first, then 2, 3 and finally 4.
Thus, a 10-year-old cannot be set to compete against a 15-year-old, however a 13-year-old with a 15-year-old can occur.
* Please note that by age is meant the year the contestant turns 1 and not necessarily the current age.
If the coach and parent agree for the child who needs to be combined with a different class than what these rules allow, it may be possible, after the SBJJF board has approved each individual case.
